Recommendations

Informed by the findings from the sociological project Buildings in the Making the research team identified 15 recommendations. The recommendations relate to: representations and roles of architects, working relationships and building users. The recommendations speak to a range of audiences in the architectural, construction and social care sectors, and to local and national government involved in commissioning settings for care.

Some of these recommendations reflect enduring issues and challenges that have long been recognised by previous governmental reviews of the construction sector such as, Constructing the Team known as the Latham Report (1994) and Rethinking Construction known as the Egan Report (1998). The recommendations from the research nevertheless highlight the scope and potential to meet the challenges of designing and delivering of buildings for care in the future.
